"Life is never boring. I suppose you could say I'm a lunatic workaholic, but that's what gets me up in the mornings."
Jon Bon Jovi, November 1996

"...I'm not a fighting person. I'm a happy drunk."
JBJ, METALLIX, '87

"You can't demand respect; you have to earn it. To me, artistic satisfaction is the most important thing..."

Grow up but don't grow old...
Jon Bon Jovi, May 16, 2001 - Monmouth University in West Long Branch, N.J.

Miracles happen everyday
Change your perception of what a miracle is
and you'll see them all around you...
Jon Bon Jovi, May 16, 2001 - Monmouth University in West Long Branch, N.J.

Success is falling 9 times and getting up at 10...
Jon Bon Jovi, May 16, 2001 - Monmouth University in West Long Branch, N.J.

Remember the 3 P's:
Passion+Persistence=Possiblity... (JBJ)
Jon Bon Jovi, May 16, 2001 - Monmouth University in West Long Branch, N.J.

Believe in love. Believe in magic. Hell, believe in Santa Claus. Believe in others. Believe in yourself. Believe in your dreams. If you don't, who will? I was blessed, as are many of you here today, to be surrounded with people in my life who believed. Listen to them; in turn, you'll believe in yourself. Because each one of you has something no one else has, or has ever had: your fingerprints, your brain, your heart. Be an individual. Be unique. Stand out. Make noise. Make someone take notice. That's the power of individuals. It's exciting.
Jon Bon Jovi, May 16, 2001 - Monmouth University in West Long Branch, N.J.

"The minute I'm afraid of an opening act, I don't deserve the headline."
JBJ, CIRCUS, '89

"We're the people's band... and when I fly out over them there's a lot of smiling people out there and they're having fun and no matter how tired I might be, I am Superman."
JBJ, METALLIX, '87

"I hate it when people have our pictures on the wall because of the way we look. If they have 'em on their bedroom walls because they appreciate us as musicians, that's cool. But if it's just because they think that we have cool hair I can live without it."
JBJ, HIT PARADER, '89

"I can't cook and I don't care too. But I'm a great cleaner-upper. You see, I'm a great guy to invite over because I'll bring a great wine and then do the dishes."
Jon Bon Jovi, Smash Hits - November 2000

"You think you're in love when you're a kid and you meet your wife and get married, but you know you're in love after you have a child,"

"People say “money is the root of all evil” but that’s NOT the correct quote. The actual saying is “The LOVE of money is the root of all evil” – money can’t buy happiness, it can’t buy you class, it can’t buy you respect and as the Beatles said, money can’t buy you love."
Jon Bon Jovi, June 2001, Oxford University

"There is no course on how to be a rock ‘n’ roll star, but it was the only future I ever envisioned for myself. Looking back on it now, there was no logical reason to believe… but I believed anyway. In my mind, I was going to be a musician. I knew it. I felt it. I believed it with every fiber of my being. It was probably a healthy combination of blind faith, naivete and passion that carried me towards my dream… and that, if you take ANYTHING from my words here today, is what you should remember: PASSION + PERSERVERENCE = POSSIBILITY."
Jon Bon Jovi, June 2001, Oxford University

"... But even with your degree, even with my accomplishments, you can never take your success for granted. Not fame, but the satisfaction that is success. Never take your audience for granted. Never forget where you come from. Be humble. Stay humble."
Jon Bon Jovi, June 2001, Oxford University

(About his band-mates)
"We know each other better than brothers because we've been together for 12 years. I only wish everybody in their lives could have friends like this. It's not a relationship where it's separate dressing rooms, I couldn't handle that. Show number four would be the end of the tour and we'd be at home watching TV."
Jon Bon Jovi, 1995 - Thailand

(On his first kiss)
"It was late Tuesday night. I remember it like it was yesterday. I can't remember her name though...Oh yeah, it was Bertha. She was tall, red hair, a tattoo, weighed about four hundred pounds...I bought one of those home videos...It's called 'How To Suck Face'. It's got step-by-step instructions. I've thrown it away though, because I'm an old pro now, with a week under my belt. I didn't have to practice...Bertha taught me everything I know."
Jon Bon Jovi, 1990 - HOT

(Al Parinello, a guitarist working in an area club band, gave fourteen year old Jon his first lessons.)
"He asked me, 'Why do you want to learn to play?' I said 'To get chicks, what else?' 'Good thinkin', said Al, and the first song he taught me was 'House of the Rising Sun,' about the New Orleans ****house. 'That was the same year I lost my virginity - to an older girl. By fifteen, I was an old man. But I was never very good at picking up girls, and I'm still not." He seems embarassed. "I had no lines, so music was my method."
Jon Bon Jovi, Slippery When Wet era.

"Well, I've never died before. So how'm gonna write about death? I write about living. I grew up. I wrote about it. Other people are growing up, and I think they can relate to it. It's as simple as that. Rock & roll's entertainment, It's fun."

-What goes on in your mind while you are on stage?
-If it's a perfect night I'll think about anything but the show. It's an out of body experience that will have me planning the party at the bar or the restaurant we'll go to. If I'm thinking about the show something's going wrong.
Jon Bon Jovi, Bounce era

-What is the secret of your success as a band?
-If I knew that I'd bottle it and sell it...
Jon Bon Jovi, Bounce era

-Describe the music that Bon Jovi creates?
-3 minutes of optimism.

-If you had to spend two years in a small but fully stocked antarctic shelter with one other person- and it couldn't be youre wife- who would it be?
JBJ: just one? Ermm... Does Caprice cook and clean?

-We can't imagine her in a pair of rubber gloves.
JBJ: Well i can imagine her in a rubber outfit!!!! i'd choose Caprice if she could cook and clean. maybe i could hire someone to teach her the basics before we went.

- On a scale of one to ten, how famous do you think you are?
JBJ: Six or seven, with ten being the president or the Queen.

In your track "I Want To Be Loved", you sing, "I ain't the same scared kid I used to be" It's hard to imagine you ever were. Were you?
JBJ: Sure. You put on the brave faith. And every time you preach that you saw the glass as half-full instead of half-empty, you had to believe that. And I do, and I continue to, but it didn't mean it wasn't motivated by my desire to fix things. I've always been a fixer.
MLB interview, September 2005

"Rock and roll is a business of excess -there is nothing I can't get two of. If I wanted two pizzas, I could get it. If I wanted two women, I could get it. But I don't need two pizzas. And I don't need two girls. And it would be nobody's business if I decided I wanted to eat both of those pizzas by myself anyhow."
Jon Bon Jovi, People, November 2002

"The way I look at it, these are the people who have put me up where I am today. Without them where would Bon Jovi be? I feel it is part of my job to sign autographs."

"After five years together, these guys deserve to have their names known by folks. It's difficult for me to see someone call Tico Alec and Alec Tico. They sort of know Richie because he wears that cowboy hat of his, but, God, these guys deserve more respect than that... It's just frustrating to me that my guys have to go through that. So if I have to turn my body away from the camera to help get them some attention, I'll do it. I don't think I'm gonna sell fever albums because of it, am I?"
Jon Bon Jovi, FACES - 1989

"Being in a rock band is a lot of hard work. I don't want any of our fans to think it's all romance in the record industry, because it's a business... Nothing is what you think it is when you're a kid. You think that when you get signed to a record contract, some guys pulls out a big, long drawer, and this big thing comes out and says 'contract' and he says 'sign here' and you're rich. There's not a such thing."
Jon Bon Jovi, BOP - 80's

"We've always been able to recreate anything. All five guys sing. We're probably one of those bands who could make a live record for real. I want to capture live on vinyl instead of trying to do it the other way around."
Jon Bon Jovi, CREEM - 1987
