- After performing so many times over the years – do you still get stage fright?
- No, no, no. I don’t. I’ve never been afraid of playing. I think if there’s anything you get an adrenalin flow. You get excited; a nervous energy that can work with you or against you. Stage fright? No.

- What did you buy with your first rock ‘n’ roll pay cheque?
- A 1978 Datsun 280Z for $5000. And I was very excited about that. It was either a trip to a music festival in California or the car. I thought I could use a car. That was my first indulgence.

- What’s the least favourite part of your job?
- Probably my least favourite thing in all honesty is doing videos. Because you’re not really singing, you’re not really playing; you’re sort of mugging it for a camera. Photo sessions would be just below that for my least favourite things to do.

"By the time I was 18 I was used to playing 10,000 seaters... I just opened for a million people... ZZ Top at Madison Square Garden without a record deal... You've just got to have guts. If you want anything you can do it."
Jon Bon Jovi, Kerrang, April '84

"I'd much rather not be playing than be in a band that's big on image, because I just couldn't respect myself if I did that... We're image conscious but I certainly play down any looks that the band has."
Jon Bon Jovi, Kerrang, 1985

"Once the 'Slippery When Wet' songs had been arranged and worked out, we invited in a lot of kids we'd met in the local pizza parlor to listen to them, and asked what they thought to get some sort of feedback from those who'd buy the record."
Jon Bon Jovi, Kerrang, September '86

"It's been a long tour.. I'm tired, real tired, and if you ask me now all I want to do is go home, watch some TV, sleep. But this is what I always wanted, wasn't it? And we worked our asses off for it."
JBJ, Kerrang, 1987

"There were a lot of knickers last night, weren't there? And someone threw a sheet. Ha! But knickers are better than bottles - you can bet your ass on that."
JBJ, METALLIX, '87

"We went to our first tour in a station wagon."
JBJ, WOW, '89

"Being on the road as much as we are can drive a person crazy. I'd be lying if I told you it didn't... The traveling gets tiresome sometimes and leaving your friends and family behind all the time takes a toll on all of us in the band. But I'm not complaining! The job doesn't have too many hard parts to it. But it is a job!"
JBJ, BOP, mid-80's

"We get on the bus. We get off the bus. We don't even know where we are sometimes."
JBJ, BOP, mid-80's

"I don't need to make records, I don't need to tour. I'm not chasing anybody anymore. I'm not chasing anything. That's what you do in your youth. It's a matter of doing it on a level that you've grown accustomed to, while you're also contributing in a relevant way, a new way, bringing in new generations of fans. It's been 22 years of making records and I must have been to Japan 25 times or more. There's not too many things in the world I haven't seen. Am I going to be doing this when I'm 88? I don't know."

Jon Bon Jovi, April 7th 2006, Associated Press

"This isn't nostalgia. This isn't a reunion tour. This is the continuation of a career - a big one and a long one."
Jon Bon Jovi, April 7th 2006, Associated Press
